Smith has undoubtedly made an impact at JMU, whether it was shamelessly with friends, dramatically on the stage or compassionately in children’s lives. When Smith left college as a poor post-grad, he proudly kept the mindset that JMU powerfully promotes—“Be the Change.”

After a few years working as an actor, Smith had a musical epiphany. He landed his first VJ gig at VH1, hosting several shows and interviewing rock idols. Always a music connoisseur, Smith heard about Fuse—an all-music channel. Faster than it takes to get from Showker to Mrs. Greens, Smith made his way to the Fuse studios that light up 7th Avenue in New York City. In turn, Fuse lit up his career by giving him his own show.

His show is a success on the Fuse network— and for good reason. Smith has talked between the tunes of music idols such as Gwen Stefani, The Cure, Taking Back Sunday and Green Day. Achieving the epitome of musical success, his show was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, earning a place in the new Warped Tour sixth-month exhibit.
