Psychology of Human Intimacy (PSYC 275)
Love is in the air with this course about different theories of love and the factors that potentially impact relationships. The professor, Bijan “Uncle Bijan” Saadatmand, encourages participation while assuring confidentiality. This is a block course during the first or second eight-week term of the semester. The class lasts two-and-a-half hours, twice a week. Students apprehensive about the time find that it actually goes by fast. Because it’s a block course and has a large availability, it’s not difficult for students to register; but you cannot register as a freshman.
Ballroom Dance (DANC 144)
Waltz, tango, polka, cha-cha or fox trot your way to e-campus and sign up for Ballroom Dance. This two-credit course is usually offered both semesters. Instructed by professor Lori Fraind, this once-a-week class provides an overview of different ballroom and set couples dances. “It’s about learning the steps and enjoying the company of those around you who share the love of dancing,” says senior Beth Pope. Once you grab a partner, class begins with at least one “mixer” dance that involves everyone. Don’t expect to stay with the same partner, though, as you will probably dance with everyone at least once during the two-and-half-hour class. “The real spirit of ballroom and social dancing is to find a way to be at ease with your partner, to dance conversationally, so that you both feel like the best dancers in the room,” says Fraind.
