IS490
This course helps students develop leadership skills in a controlled and supervised environment by drawing on experience and knowledge of U.S. Army service members. Students gain the ability to face uncertain and stressful situations with an improved self-confidence. Some of the interesting activities in this class include caving, skiing, paintballing and rappelling off Eagle Hall. Life-skills, such as basic first aid and map reading, are also covered. Students don’t have to be in the ROTC program to take this course, but professor permission is required.
History of Rock (MUS 204)
This music appreciation course, taught by professor Rick DiGiallonardo, covers all the musical styles that influenced the development of rock ‘n’ roll. “Professor DiGiallonardo’s dedication and passion to the subject and teaching students makes students more interested than in other classes,” says senior Meg Kelly. Focusing on “sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll,” expect interesting lectures and videos featuring important music legends such as the Beatles, Sex Pistols and Ramones. Even though it’s the largest taught on campus, this 300-person class fills up quickly and is only offered in the fall.
