Greetings from President Linwood H. Rose
Welcome to the 2007-2008 academic year at James Madison University. We are all looking forward to another year of exciting opportunities. This academic year is extra special, as we are celebrating the university’s Centennial birthday.
Since its founding nearly 100 years ago, JMU has enriched the lives of some 100,000 men and women who are using the power of knowledge to create positive change in communities all over the globe.
While much has changed over the years, including the size of the student body, academic programs, extracurricular activities, student interests and campus traditions, JMU’s commitment to each individual student has remained steadfast. Throughout JMU’s history, the university has supported students in every way, helping them to achieve the most comprehensive and highest quality education possible.
While each student is respected as an individual, he or she also shares a connection to the greater JMU community. Rooted in a common purpose, our students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to lend their talents, skills and perspectives for the greater good of the Madison community. We call this unique camaraderie “All Together One.”
At JMU, you learn and grow—both intellectually and as individuals. Each experience, challenge, and opportunity that you encounter is one more step along your academic journey and helps foster JMU’s mission in which our students are prepared to be “educated and enlightened citizens who lead productive and meaningful lives.”
My best wishes to each of you for a successful and enjoyable year.
